Welcome to the 2017-2018 AAHA Volunteer Registration for the Appleton Area Hockey Association!

This registration session will allow you to provide contact information, sign consents and submit intentions. Please read through each page carefully to ensure that all information is provided accurately.

USA Hockey Registration

All coaches and instructors of USA Hockey Programs, board members, team managers and locker room monitors must be registered for the current season in order to be eligible to coach/instruct any regular season activities (conditioning, evaluations, practices, games, clinics, tournaments, etc.) or earn volunteer credits as a club volunteer. There is an annual fee to register for coaches. Board members, team managers and locker room monitors may register for a free, volunteer membership.

  • Step 1:  CLICK HERE to go to USA Hockey Registration .  Be sure to PRINT and SAVE your confirmation code.
  • Step 2:  Return to this registration and proceed. Later in this registration session you will need to enter the USA Hockey Confirmation Code that you received in Step 1.

Coaching Education Program (CEP) Requirements

All coaches must have the required certification level by December 31st of the current season. Go to the WAHA website for more information.

  • All coaches must enter USA Hockey's CEP at Level 1, and must continue their education each year until, at a minimum, they achieve Level 3. A coach may only attend one certification clinic per year.

EXCEPTION FOR MITE COACHES: Mite coaches may remain at a Level 1, even if their CEP has expired for as long as they are coaching Mite 8U or Mite 6U age groups.

  • Coaches who do not coach in continuous years must re-enter the program at the next level when they resume coaching responsibilities.
  • Once Level 3 is achieved, periodic renewal is required for coaches who have not achieved Level 4. Coaching certification at Level 3 is valid for two seasons.
  • All coaches must also complete online age-specific training modules specific to the level of play they are coaching.

WAHA Background Screening

All associations are required to screen board members, coaches, team managers and locker room monitors through Protect Youth Sports, a national criminal background search service. The screen consists of a National Criminal Database and National Sex Offender Search. Background screens must be completed every two years. The Vice President maintains a spreadsheet of all those who have been screened. If you are unsure if you need to complete the background screening process for the 2017-18 season, please contact Cindy Heindel. Background screens MUST be completed prior to participating in any AAHA activities.

CLICK HERE to complete the background screening process.

Make sure to complete the application, agree to the background check and pay for it via Master Card, Visa or Discover Card.  You will receive a receipt via email as proof that you have submitted your application.  You can turn in your receipt for reimbursement.

AAHA and the WAHA Screening Review Committee will be notified of the results within 48 hours.

USA Hockey SafeSport Training

The safety of program participants is of paramount importance to USA Hockey. USA Hockey SafeSport is the organization's program related to off-ice safety. The USA Hockey SafeSport Handbook is intended to collect USA Hockey's various policies and to protect participants from all types of misconduct and abuse. These policies include policies on Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse, Screening, Locker Room Supervision, Hazing Policies, and Codes of Conduct for administrators, coaches, officials, parents, players and spectators.

USA Hockey requires that the following individuals successfully complete the SafeSport Training Program:

  • Local Program Administrators (Program leaders, administrators, board members, etc.) - at least one Registrar must be certified by November 30 of each season
  • Coaches (Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches)
  • Officials
  • Volunteers/Employees (any person with regular, routine or frequent access to or supervision over minor participants)
  • Parents/Players

SafeSport certification is valid for two years and the training is free of charge. SafeSport must be completed prior to participating in any AAHA activities.  We recommend taking the SafeSport refresher course between certification years.

CLICK HERE to complete your SafeSport training.

Volunteers may request reimbursement for the annual USA hockey fee, registration fee for CEP classes and the WAHA Background Screen.
